October 20:
[image of George Washington] Monthly meeting of the West Chester Coin Club. The speaker for this night will be Nelson Aspen with a presentation on “Presidents on Paper Money”.   Nelson is a member of our club as well as the founder of the Currency Club of Chester County. He is well known for his knowledge and expertise on the subject of paper money and much of the history behind it. If you are interested in paper money, you won't want to miss this presentation on the presidents that appear on our currency.   An auction follows.

October 1: The Delaware County Coin Club is having an auction on Wednesday, October 1st at 7:30pm. The auction will be held in Room 108 at the Ridley Community Center on Morton Avenue in Folsom, Pennsylvania. The Ridley Community Center is just about 1/3rd of a mile north of MacDade Blvd.   Highlights in this auction will be several high grade early type coins, 2 gold $2 1/2s, BU roll of Peace Dollars, 1883CC GSA dollar and more.   For more information, call 610-675-8090 or email delcocoin@comcast.net.

Monthly meeting of the West Chester Coin Club. The speaker for this night will be Pam Stitely with a presentation on “Greek Coinage”. Pam is well known to us as an expert on ancient coinage and has given several talks on that topic at our club meetings, as well as speaking on other interested subjects. Monthly meeting of the West Chester Coin Club.. Speaker for this night will be long time club member Tom Sebring with a presentation entitled “The Sun King & The Tabago Medals”. Tom is a longtime member of the West Chester Coin Club and specializes in sunken treasure coins but has a wide variety of other numismatic interests. He always presents an entertaining and interesting program and has been a speaker at many major coin shows and conventions, as well as authoring many numismatic articles and several books.   An auction follows.

July 21:
[Book of West Chester Postcards] Monthly meeting of the West Chester Coin Club.. Speaker for this night will be long time club member and past president Bob Sheller with a presentation entitled “A History of West Chester in Early Postcards”. Bob will discuss West Chester and the streets, buildings, and monuments as told through postcards. Last year Bob co-authored a book by the same title. For postcard collectors, this was the first price guide incorporating and understanding the vintage postcards of the Borough of West Chester. Mr. Sheller has offered the book to our club members at a special discounted price. He has also offered to deliver the books and personally autograph them. An auction follows.

June 16:
[Mr. Ray at work] Monthly meeting of the West Chester Coin Club. The program for this meeting will be Patrick Viesti with a presentation on "Tom Ray: A Career in Animation".   Patrick is one of our younger members who started his membership as a junior member and has contributed much to the club by giving talks and being our (unofficial) club photographer.   Mr. Ray has worked for several well known studios in the past, such as MGM and Warner Brothers, and was an Academy Award Winning Animator with the 1965 animated short "The Dot and the Line".   Mr. Ray still operates his own small animation studio and gallery called Tomstone Animation Studios & Gallery, in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.   Mr. Ray is celebrating his 88th birthday!   Don't miss this one.   An auction follows.

May 19:

May 16-17: The American Numismatic Association's School of Numismatics is coming to the Garden State Numismatic Association Convention in May in Somerset, New Jersey. Monthly meeting of the West Chester Coin Club.   Instead of a speaker for this meeting, the club will hold one of their Super Show & Tell and Super Auction Nights.   For the Super Show & Tell, all members are requested to bring in an item from their collection and give a two minute talk about it.   For the Super Auction, up to fifteen members will submit up to ten lots of auction material with a minimum value of ten dollars per lot. [Money makes the world go round] National Coin Week.   Each year during the third week of April, the American Numismatic Association celebrates National Coin Week with exhibits, presentations and other activities at civic centers, libraries, and schools to let the world know about the joys of collecting and studying coins, paper notes, and other forms of money. The speaker for this night will be Bob Csernek with a presentation on “Scripophily: Everything You Always Wanted To Know But Were Afraid To Ask.” Bob is a past president of the West Chester Coin Club, a member of the International Bond & Share Society and the Washington Historical Autograph and Certificate Organization. Please note:   Several errors were made in the last copy of COIN CLIPS dated March 2008.   In that newsletter, under the heading Coming Events, it was listed that the next Tri-State show would be March 16.   The latest information we have is that there will not be a Tri-State show this March.   It was also listed that the next Trevose show would be April 13.   The next Trevose show should be March 16.
